My husband’s Aunt Patte past away near midnight on April 30. Although she had been battling several illnesses for a very long time, it was still so hard to let her go. Anyone who ever met Patte, loved Patte. This was proven at her memorial service where the seats were overflowing and people lined up all along the walls. Patte was a firm believer in organ donation having been a recipient of a kidney when she was 28 years old. She never forgot the family who in their time of tragedy made the choice that gave her another chance at life. She lived her life as a testament to her thankfulness for that chance. She took every opportunity to help the cause of organ donation. Patte never complained, she always had a smile on her face, and never forgot to say “I love you”. Her husband Roger had been her best friend since high school and his love only grew each day for her. Please keep him in your thoughts as he adjusts to his new life.

This tribute to her has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I’ve done my best, but still feel that it isn’t worthy of the beautiful soul she was. I know that she will understand that I tried as hard as I could. In honor of Patte, I’m asking all of you to please consider signing an organ donation card, and let your loved ones know of your decision. This simple act could give the world another Patte, and that would truly be a blessing for all. The reason for the rainbow is a version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow performed by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole was played as a celebration of her life. If you haven’t heard this version, google it. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed by it’s beauty.
